Alpine Bank Designated as one of the Healthiest Companies in America

Western Slope banking organization earns award for its workplace wellness initiatives.

(Glenwood Springs, Colo.) – Alpine Bank was recognized today as one of the Healthiest Companies of America by Interactive Health Solutions, Inc. (IHS).  Alpine Bank was chosen for the award based on the company’s overall ‘health score’ determined from annual on-site health screenings.  Less than 10% of IHS clients qualify for this award.   The award applaudes Alpine Bank’s continued effort and commitment to the health and well-being of its employees with the creation of a corporate culture that encourages employees to take responsibilityfor their own health and to take an active role in their preventive care.

IHS has developed a distinctive way to recognize companies that are committed to the concept of preventive health care and awards the companies who have measurably met the assigned objectives of a corporate wellness program. IHS’ research indicates that in a typical company 58 percent of employees have medical conditions that are unknown and/or not being treated, and require some type of medical intervention. The IHS program serves as a health care ‘detective,’ finding symptoms and indicators to be more “proactive” instead of “reactive”.  Part of the ‘detective’ program consists of an annual blood draw and blood analysis that is free to all Alpine Bank employees.

In an effort to address health care costs and improve employee health and productivity, Alpine Bank collaborated with its benefits consultant, Trilogy Benefits, Inc. and health benefits administrator, CNIC Health Solutions, to put together a workplace wellness program that includes:

ü     100% of employee medical, dental, vision, life and long term disability paid by Alpine Bank and $500.00 toward annual exams as part of the insurance program

ü      $1200.00 per year dedicated to wellness and paid to those that complete three of six items, one of which is the blood draw itself

ü     Provide a Flexible Spending program for health and dependent care

ü     Encourage employees to take part in the Bank’s “half price program” that reimburses the employee up to $750.00 per year for participation in physical fitness and health management programs

ü     The opportunity to take part in a wellness fitness exam on a yearly basis (free to employees)

ü     Round out employee wellness with an EAP program which allots $210 annually toward mental well being

ü     For fun and a little bit of competition, the Bank hosts a “Summer Games” challenge every summer to encourage employees to get out and get moving as a team

“I am very excited about Alpine Bank receiving this award.  It further confirms that we, as a company, are doing the right thing in stressing a healthy lifestyle and wellness program,” says Alpine Bank Executive Vice President Kris Gardner.  “Giving our employees the opportunity to participate in the many wellness type programs we offer and seeing the high level of participation is further evidence that good health is a common goal of everyone at Alpine Bank.”
